Hi there,

The poor old folding caravan has gone to a new home (awwww ) but -  we are the proud mum and dad of our new 1992 Avondale Leda Cheviot (waheeeyyy) :-)

The carpet has seen better days and we have been considering replacing the carpet with laminate flooring instead.

Has anyone done this ?  and if so do you have any tips ?  Is it difficult in a small space ?

Or would we be better off just re-carpetting ?

Any ideas would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance - Rachel and Adrian

Have you considered fitting Carpet tiles or lino ?  laminate flooring is quite heavy & would prove rather tricky & time consuming to fit . ...

Hi Chad,

Open to all suggestions at the mo ! the carpet is really awful and has to go, plus we also have a 5 year old and I thought something that was a little child friendly would be a good idea.

If I fitted lino, do you think I should remove the carpet first ?

Cheers

it didnt take him long and it looks really nice i just have a runner now i think you have to leave a bit of a gap for the wood to  spread ,an eighth of an inch he said he left  it seems to be what a lot of people are doing now,

hi weimey  we have put laminate flooring in our van it is true adds a little more weight but not a real prob for us  it was quite easy to put down one problem we have found out when the weather is bad  raining  or wet grass the floor does get quite dirty but we soon have it all clean again within minutes with a cloth used for floors quite easy to keep van clean  you can also get carpet rugs to go down centre of van  and take up when you wish to clean floor     little bob and ann  .

Thanks for all your replies.  Definately considering it - we too have a dog so it seems the sensible option really.

Just wondering about the cutting to fit part - did you use a jigsaw to cut the corners etc ?  and did you just butt it up to the underseat storage cupboard rather than going underneath it ?

Cheers

Try this thread, may help

Cheers

We have just put some really nice floorboard effect vinyl tiles in our "Talula"(sorry name for our old europa caravan).they were £4.99 a pack from homebase. They look really good.Much cheaper and easyer than laminate.Very easy to clean and not as heavy. You don't need any tools, just a sharp knife.Good luck what ever you do.
