can someone please help and explain in simple terms how a caravan water system works.....Adrea Altea 2006 / TRUMA crystal pump / Trend A mixer taps

on a recent trip the pump kept kicking in (all night!!!!) and I was told that one of the microswitches was faulty (previous to this both taps worked fine) so I have bought new switches and went to fit them....

on removing the shower one i discovered the wires of the current switch (which looks quite new) are not connected to anything and there seems to be no obvious place to connect them

can't remove the main sink tap (can see any obvious method of releasing the handle) and really dont want to remove the oven to get access from underneath.....

any help would be appreciated before I either break something or pay someone to do what seemed an easy job

a pressurised system does not require micro switches, and possibly you only need to reset the pressure switch,BUT check for any leaks on the system as this on as pressurised system can make it click on and off all the time to re-pressurise. if you have a micro switch system the wires will be connected to each tap by two wires. maybe not same but give you an idea of the location and size.

may help

Hi cckids. Sounds like you have a pressure switch system and the switch just needs adjusting. A pressure switch is a white plastic box just behind where the water comes into the van. I will have a little plastic wheel on the top of it, If its kicking in too much or pulsing it needs to be turned anti-clockwise. Its just a case of experimenting till you find the right setting. You may find that you have to alter it when using different voltages. Might seem a pain at first but is easy once you get used to it.

Adjusting Pressure Switches
1) Turn off all taps.
2) Turn on isolation switch to operate pump. If the pump doesn't work turn the knob on the pressure switch clockwise until it does.
3) Open taps to clear air in system, turn taps off.
4) With the pump running and taps off, turn the knob on the pressure switch anticlockwise until the pressure switch "clicks" and the pump switches off.
5) Open the cold tap, the pump should come on within one second with a single click. If it doesn't, turn the knob on the pressure switch clockwise slightly until it does. Close the tap, the pump should switch off, try again.
6) Try the hot tap, it should come on within seven seconds, it doesn't turn the knob on the pressure switch clockwise slightly until it does. Close the tap, the pump should switch off within seven seconds, try again.
With a good pressure switch and using these steps above the pump should work when you want it and stop when you want it to.
If it doesn't there could be one or all of four problems
1)If the pressure switch keeps clicking turning the pump on and off, and you have noticed black bits coming out of the tap, the filter has broken, needs to be replaced and the pressure switch needs to be cleaned out.
2) The diaphragm has split in the pressure switch and the pressure switch needs to be replaced.
3)If it doesn’t work at all check the 12v supply to it.

4) Check the micro switch inside the pressure switch, (the most unlikely)
