Evening all

After removing alot of wallboards, wood and polystyrene due to alot of water ingress in my 13 year old Swift 520, the time has come to start the fix up! I have bought the wallboards, the wood & I am going to b & q for the polystyrene and I just wanted to ask what is the best glues to use to fix everything back which aren't going to cost a fortune? (moneys tight 17)  Do I need different glues for different parts of the job? Which glues do you think works well? I have some Everbuild instant nails would that be useful for anything?

Any advice would be appreciated 17

Thanks

Mel

Just remember if it has solvent in it, it will melt the polystyrene. I used solvent free gripfill from screwfix for mine, about 3 quid a tube.

Hi , just coming to the end of fixing my van, thanks to alot to the help on here with great advice and patience , i did try the solvent free gripfill but doing a test piece i did see couple of problems with it , firstly it says on tube that at least 1 surface must be porous, given that aluminium and polystyrene are neither, made me try the test piece and although this did bond i found that it was prone to cracking when dry and coming away from the aluminium, given this i opted for Tech 7 adhesive and sealer which says bonds both polystyrene among other materials inc aluminium , also tried Soudal Fix All adhesive and sealer which is also for polystyrene and aluminium, both did and excellent job with great bond . Although they are about £10 each ( can be got cheaper online ) i found it was worth it as it was specific to task, when bonding 2 flat surfaces not alot of adhesive is required not as though extra is required to fill gaps with wall panels , same adhesive works as well on timber etc , I did use solvent free gripfill when bonding timber to timber where i was sure area would not be exposed to moisture. Hope this helps a little.

Remember its only a problem if it cant be fixed for everything else theres Mastercard.

Which solvent  would you use to fix ply wood to the polstyrene in bathroom , having removed the damp layer of wood from the polystyrene carefully, its seems to be completly dry underneath.

We only got the caravan last night,

Waterproof PVA, but check how it got wet - if you have a leak and don't seal it, you'll seal the damp in and it will rot.
