I have an Buccaneer Elan 12-2 which is showing a couple of small cracks to the aluminium panel above the main door, they are above the curved door frame section, any ideas how to repair this please?
Thanks
Dont know your van but,if you have the kitchen at the rear just as you come in,this i read is the cause of the cracks..its the weight.Repairing it is big bucks.
An awning rail leak above the door could have weakened the framework - or, the steadies could have been over tightened perhaps?
Check for damp, stop any leaks and repair framework to strengthen 'van's integrity. Repair alloy skin from inside with epoxy, touch up paint to outside.
Thanks for the helpful advise, I will look into removing the interior wall board above the door so I can gain access and do an awning rail reseal.
Thanks Again
You might find when u remove the panels the door frame will be cracked.I seen this years ago, now that i remember, in a haynes manual of the caravan.Maybe ur local libery will have the first books as it told you the cause..which was the weight of the back "bouncing"along the road, and how to repair it.
