We're living in our caravan for a bit whilst I work away from home and had a problem with the bathroom window leaking. We've had the window seal temporarily sealed with some Sikkaflex and have since bought some replacement window seals and have followed the advice on Wizard's website to fit them. We've got all the damp measurements to below 15 (green) apart from a few in the low 20s and It's all been cleaned with white spirit and then with meths and finally we've refitted the rubber seal, stapled it and put the strip and the fixings back on. However, frustratingly we've now tried to close the window and found that the new rubber seal is putting a lot of strain on the window catches. Looking at the old rubber (which we cut a bit off to take to the place to buy the new rubber so we can't reuse because it's short) and the new rubber, the new rubber has a larger bulb. Dee remembers that when she bought it the company told her that it had a larger bulb which would be better for us. I'm guessing it was all they had. From the outside the window is pulled in tight at the bottom but not so tight at the top. We can't get post where we are living or at my temporary work and so had to buy something local here in Cornwall. It's now raining so we can't take the whole flipping thing off again and leave it bare until we sort it out. Are we going to have to take off the brand new seal with the larger bulb and start again? So frustrated!
