hi all, my fridge seems to have packed up the green light is on but the fridge wont chill at all, and when switched over to try gas the pilot will light when holding in the control knob but then after holding it in for 30 seconds the knob pops out out again when relased and it goes out again, any ideas please, no smell of ammonia or anything else is it worth just putting a table top fridge in and removing the 3 way fridge completley, as calling out engineers seems expensive. its an electrolux in a 1997 elddis mistral vogue
I am having same trouble.I looked at replacement and like you just thought, too expensive. I have looked at table top fridge on gumtree and can get one for around £30. So i will be fitting one of them. I am told to make sure the air can circulate around it and it will be fine, if slightly louder.
hi bill many thanks for your responce i tried holding in the gas knob for over 5 mins just goes out when released and the 240v i left overnight and nothing at all, never cooled down at all, i have taken the unit out and am trying the turning it upside down trick as mentioned on other posts, but i doubt this will work but worth a shot to see if the ammonia as crystalized, cleaned the jet out at the base and giving it a good clean while i have the unit out, will try it tomorrow if not its a table top unit i think unless i can get any more advice,
thanks for the shout taxi Paul i have seen them on ebay as well for about £35 and some are 50 litre so having a good scout about

many thanks craig
green light means you have electric supply only.quite possible the element has failed.gas failed to light: run the grill for bit then try again.could be a bit of air in the pipes.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
thanks michael i have had the gas running for the cooker over a weekend doing meals while we were away but still nothing happened as soon as the button is released the pilot went out i have check the valve and made sure it was not isolated, even tried taping the knob in, the pilot stayed on for ages but did not chill then as soon as it was released it went out again
When you had / have the fridge out and turned on via mains does the element at the back get hot ? If not then its gone and can be replaced really easily off e-bay.
If flame is going out when button released then sounds like the thermocouple is not working. Not sure how these are replaced in a caravan fridge but I am sure someone on here will know :-)
hi albion yes its level had the spirit level on it to check
hi carl just turned the fridge back up could hear the gurgling of the liquid moving around i have wired the fridge back up and turned it on and will let it run for a few hours and see if it works will check to see if the element heats up, it is the one with the red sleeve and not the grey one, if it has gone are they hard to fit
many thanks for all the advice just love this site so helpfull
