Hi, we bought a second hand van and there was a musty smell just in the bathroom. We discovered the smell is from the holding tank cos when that is removed the smell goes. Always use correct products but don't know if previous owners did. Have flushed through and left to soak in Fenwicks cleaner but still smells. Any tips o get rid of problem or advice on where to get a replacement holding tank would be much appreciated. Thanks
CARAVAN CAMPERVAN THETFORD CASSETTE TANK CLEANER 1LTR
any caravan shop sells it. smell like a rose after.Clean inside were the cassette goes with bleach & water. plus its possible that the seal on the cassette isnt sealing properly, try putting some olive oil round the seal. (only olive oil)

Its not a hangover, its wine flu!
We use the 26p bleach from Asda its not really strong enough to damage anything but smells ok when done I also do seals with olive oil.. but only once a year
We use the THETFORD CASSETTE TANK CLEANER as mentioned by Bill Terry above.
Seems to work very well and leaves a nice smell. Make sure you leave it to soak as per the instructions. There is enough in the bottle to clean the tank several times.
As Clever says it does the job and breaks up the scale inside the tank that harbours the bacteria that causes the bad odours. I seem to remember that you can get about 4 or 5 cleans from a bottle and I do mine about twice a year which works out about every 80 days of use.
