Hi All,
Another NOOB question coming:

When I got the van (Compass Pentara 500/4) the guy showed me how to fill the fresh water tank via the water hog and a pump which I show in Photo A. This I get!!

However, next to my Cascade Water Heater is an odd socket which I show in Photo B. I don't have anything that fits it.

Is it another method to fill the fresh water tank?
Is it only for drinking water as the faded sticker says?

When I look inside I see blue hose coming from it and entering a T piece which goes in one direction to the Cascade and the other towards the water tank but I cant confirm that as I have not looked behind the big gas fire yet.

Please help this novice.

Looks like the first one could fill an on-board tank and the other is an external from aquaroll. Prob got valves inside to choose what system you use ?

sure others will be along soon with more experience.

I only have the onbaord tank and have filler like your pic A

if you mean the small divice at the side of the onboard filler cap could this be a breather to allow the air out of the tank as you fill it ???
if you mean the bottom picture with the blue coloured connectors thats for the whale watermaster pump for your water barrel

Hi Alpiner,

The top picture or picture A shows a filler cap and a socket for a pump to be plugged in to pump water in via the water hog. I put the pump into the hog and then I put the hose into the filler neck. Then I connect the plug into the socket which operates when the pump switch is set to external on the power panel inside.

The bottom picture is what I did not know. You say its for a whale water master pump? I will look these up now.

Are you supposed to fill your fresh water tank with 1 pump (for example the one I have) then set up the other to fill as you need it?

Hi all,

I was wondering if this Water master pump did not come as standard but was added later by a previous owner.

Could this be why I have a tank that I can fill via one pump type as I described for Picture A?

I think some hose tracing might be in order tomorrow and if the tank is linked to the water master and then go off to the taps as one I could use either or both.

Please let me have your thoughts

If you were to use a serviced pitch you could use the Whale system to save fetching water by either using the Whale mains adaptor (pressure reducer) or a float valve in an Aquaroll. this way you would have water on demand whereas if you were using the onboard tank you would need to fill it at periodic intervals unless someone has installed some cleaver sensors and solenoids to switch the on board pump to fill mode when the water level drops, you could then use a float valve aquaroll to provide the water on demand. You will need to draw the pipework and valve layout to work out what exactly you have and how it is connected and then decide how you want to use it. With the right combination of valves and pumps you have a pretty big range of options.

Hi All,

I have traced the pipe routes now and can confirm what I have:

I have a 20 litre on board freshwater tank which I can fill via the water hog and the submersible pump that I was supplied with. This system works just fine.

I have a Whale system which could auto feed from the hog if I had been supplied with a pump (pressure switch type)

Both systems are interconnected and then run to the cascade and the water supply via various connecters.

I have sent pics to Whale to identify my system type so I buy the correct pump attachment for the Whale Socket.

Thanks for all your help and advice in solving this riddle for me. What a top site this is!!!!!

That's deffo a Whale Watermaster.  Quick look says around £35 on FleaBay will give you complete unit (plug, pipe and pump).
