hi there, have a whale water pump on a pressure switch system with three wires going to the back of the inlet unit. hooked up pump to inlet and and when i turn on pump switch at panel the 10amp fuse blows. thought that it may be the pump but purchased a new one but still blowing fuse. anybody throw any light on this as i due to go away the middle of next week. also anybody know which wire goes where on the three connections thanks for you help.
Puzzled as I'd only expect two wires to go the inlet fitting; positive and negative to provide the 12v DC switching from the pressure switch.
Have you had the pump working previously?
For the 10amp fuse to blow like this, there must be a short circuit. What happens if you switch the pump switch without the pump connected (would check for possible inlet wiring fault), plus have you double checked the pump by coupling to the battery direct - I know you say it's new, but stranger things have happened.
If you can arm yourself with a multimeter to measure the DC at the water inlet, you'll have a better chance of tracking this issue.
