During the last time our van was used, the water didnt work at the taps.

I'm unsure if this is a problem with the whale pump, or the switch that commands the water pump.

Is there an easy way of testing the whale pump? If I can discover whether or not it is working, I will know to either buy a new pump, or look at the switch.

if you know someone who can check it with a battery away from the caravan. a 12v battery with a wire to each side and touch the pump contacts each side,it should run.

yes it can.fix wires to battery first to prevent sparks.

I had the same problem with my Whale pump and found that a bit of emery cloth rubbed on the contacts on the pump and the socket on the van solved the problem.
Old age and lack of use was the problem - mine and the vans!
