I've notices lots of mites in the caravan, they seem to be everywhere, in cupboards., on windowsills, in boxes and even found them in the fridge. They are tiny and look like they might be dust mites? Any idea how I can get rid? I've tried sprays without success. Would a smoke insecticide work? Anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?
It's putting me off using the van as I don't want to risk transferring them into my home
As you said, probably try one of the greenhouse smoke bombs, failing that give Rentokil a call. At least they can identify what bugs you have. (not you personally I meant the caravan)
Thanks for replies, I've heard of smoke insecticides but have no idea where to buy them? Is this something garden centres would have as I've noticed greenhouses mentioned?
They won't be dust mites as you can't see them with the human eye although they are always present in all matresses, carpets and furnishings. This has to be something else and it sounds like from the replies that nobody else has experienced this including ourselves either. The only things we sometimes get are very tiny flies in the evening which could be grass flies like Jeff said but they tend more to cling to light fittings very much like Moths do but have always disappeared by morning. We always treat our furnishings with dog flea repellant which is available from garden centres and pet shops so whether this has helped I'm not sure.
I wonder how many of us reading this thread started sctratching? I did, lol.
Could maybe be paper mites though we don't have any papers stored on our van, I've googled and they seem to fit description....seem impossible to get rid of
Get them positively identified by a pest control operative and then use the appropriate method to eradicate the insects before they do any harm or you do any harm by using inappropriate pesticides.

I agree with birder99 - you need to have the critters positively identified by an expert before you do anything else so you know what you are dealing with and therefore how to eradicate them successfully.
