Hello,
I have a SPRITE MAJOR 1987. It has compsite wallsthat is to say yjhe outside is Aluminium , the inside is wall board and in between is compressed polystyrene which seems to be glued/bonded to the outside.
I have a damp problem which I am trying to cure. The main area seeems around the front right hand window. I have taken (broken really) off some of the wall board but it is very difficult to trace where the damp is actually penetrating.
It seems to me that any damp gets behind the polystyrene and runs down/around as it cannot really dry outbecause of the wallboard. Obviously the polystyrene itself does not hold the damp as such. I can see areas where I know for sure there is damp behind the polystyrene but the damp meter does not read.
On the other had areas where there is a barrier to water running down that traps the damp and you get a very high reading but these areas are nowehere near where there is anything that could allow damp in (trim/rails.window seals...)
I suspect it is the window seal but any advise/guidance welcome
Thanks
------------- John
