do you own a swift,check to see if yours is involed

Just heard that Swift Caravans are recalling approx 300 caravans due to them having damp problems. Are you one of those affected by this recall and do you think it will not only harm Swifts reputation but the UK Industry in general.

We have a 2009 Charisma 550 and just had it serviced, they found slight water ingress in the bathroom corner above the loo, we could not see anything at all.
swift have agreed to fix the problem and it goes into the dealer in Jan for a week

This is not good news i have got a sprite alpine which is 6 months old seems ok so far but a little worried about this recall does anyone know which swifts have been recalled yet

Early 2011 Challengers and Conquerors I believe, so hopefully your 2012 'van will not have the problem.

If this is true, good on Swift.

My BiL just traded his Bailey 'van in, luckly with 10 days left on the water ingress guarentee, to find there were problems. Luckily for him the dealer has said no problem they will sort it with Bailey, but apparently Bailey are aware of the common problem but have never done a recall.

Swift are aware of problems with some 2011 models and are repairing them as and when .The subject has been well covered on their website and most people seem to be happy about it and the fact swift are now giving a ten year water ingress warranty while baiiley apparently have gone back to six years because of problems with the alutech method or so the rumour goes

I can't see how Swift doing a recall will damage their reputation ?? IMO it is far better than allowing owners to discover faults at services Eric when more damage could be done

We have a 2012 Swift Challenger Sport that has water ingress. Got to lose it for. 6 weeks as Swift want it back to the factory to sort it out. Worse part is that we have to empty it completely! We will ever buy a a Swift again! Total inconvenience - grrrr.

You really have to wonder why things have not moved on regarding water ingress in caravans.
Poor design/materials and workmanship all reasons why caravans still leak.

My last caravan was 20 years old, original mastics /sealants etc and dry as a bone, so it can be done and there are many the same.

Yes I knew that but it doesn't seem to have worked. They have the same issue with some of there static vans.

That was the point I was trying to make, we constantly see posts on this site with new and nearly new caravans with damp issues.

The manufacturers can't seem to get their head around the issue, if you look at how caravans are made its quite an easy fix but then again they don't want them to last forever but new vans leaking is unacceptable.
