I have a leaking Reich water tap.

Its a fold down mixer( microswitch not wired).

I have checked out spares but they are pricey. So would it be better to replace the tap not cheap)rather than changing parts of it.

I am unable to find any installation instructions anywhere for these taps.

Any advice would be appreciated as we are due to use the van over Xmas

Regards

Terry

Many thanks for the replies.

I have found a source for replacement(in my local dealer would you believe)

I have looked at this tap- its in the bathroom to work out how it is fitted.

There is a large black plastic back nut i dont know the size of this nut.

There appear to be  2 flexible connectors held in by what looks like spring clips.

I would appreciate any tips to change this tap birdman

Regards

Terry

I think you can replace the cartridge in Reich taps without removing the tap but have not done that myself.
Access is started by prising out the coloured push in plastic plug in the top.

I have though removed the taps and replaced them. Yes you undo that black plastic nut[some have been brass]. In my case access was very restricted so I made a 5/16" ply disc about 2.5" dia into which I cut [fret-saw] the requisite "open-end" spanner profile. Sorry I cant remember the size but its an odd figure like 41, 43 or 47 mm across flats. It could be easier if you measure a spare in the accessory shop first. Thankfully the nut was not tight just too tight for my finger ends without the "spanner". Dont do it up tight afterwards as it and tap are only plastic.
With the tap now able to be draw up slightly off the surface with the slack in the pipes I could access the pipe couplings. The pipes go into the tap with plastic ends. On the tap down near these plastic ends you will see there is a pin about 2mm dia pushed through the tap body, effectively between the plastic pipe ends. Pushing out that pin releases the two plastic pipe ends from the tap body. Watch that you don't drop that pin.
Once realised how it is done you will appreciate it is a very neat way of doing it, the nose of the plastic couplings being fitted with the o-rings to seal the water.
For info, in birdmans link you will see these pipe end couplings as spares, the red and blue items. Here they show cranked ones but some are straight. I have had both stainless and plastic "pins" in the past.
If I get time I will see if I can find and measure my spanner.

Whilst not your tap below is the compact Reich Shower Mixer. This has a smaller mounting thread and nut but shares the technique for fixing the water feeds.
As I described earlier all you need to do is push out the stainless steel pin then you can pull out the two water feeds. These remain fixed on the pipe and on reassembly with that tap or a replacement tap are simply pushed back in place and the pin reinserted. Hope this helps.

Now found both nuts to measure.
Reich tap nuts across flats sizes are 46 mm for the larger series and 32 mm for the compact ones.

Many thanks JTQU and all who offered advice.

I have now sussed out the existing tap and compared it with the new one.

These taps dont appear to have the stainless steel pin shown on yours but the

underside is otherwise identical.

I cant move the back nut by hand but i have a small stilson wrench that may fit.

I will try the tap when we are away to try and trace where the service person said it

leaked.I cant see any crack or fault anywhere. If it leaks i will replace it.

Cheers

Terry
