Having been un-obtainable for many years, I can now supply a complete replacement Slider control unit for 4000/5500 Fanmaster. See here for more details
I was reading in this link that the cause of the fire not working may be down to the fan motor and even though i know you posted this with good intentions, the cause of peoples fires not working may not be down to this part as some people would think...Click
The link you refer to is actually referencing Fanmaster Mk1. The slider unit as described in the top post is for later versions of the Fanmaster range (4000/5500) so it's not strictly applicable in this case.
Of course the reason behind a faulty fire could be due to one of many components. I was never implying that the slider would cure all problems.
The point of the post was to let people know that this item as once again available as a spare part. We used to manufacture and supply this item for Carver many years ago. After the main production run, the plastic tooling went missing from the moulders and it was uneconomic to make new tooling just to satisfy the spares market. So the supply of these items dried up.
I am aware that these items do go faulty and many people are left "high & dry" with no replacements available.
I have taken it upon myself to re-establish the manufacture of the plastic components to supply end users and trade engineers alike with a replacement slider unit. In a bid to alert people to the availability of these units, my original post was made.
And just to complete this post, I am of course still repairing slide switches, as I have since 2001. More importantly, upgrading them to get rid of the weaknesses that have always plagued it.
The sales link in the original posting for this topic has now expired - here's an updated link for the complete slider unit and also a PCB only option.
