Hi everyone,

Well, it's been a few weeks since my last post.  I've been busy re-painting my new wall and putting the new curtains up etc etc.  All was well!  Then, I decidied to give the caravan a good wash on the outside..................

I'm pleased to say that the area I have just fixed stayed bone dry.  However after a good squirt with the hose the front locker is collecting water and I can't think of what to do with it!  I removed the seal a few weeks ago as I suspected there may be some water getting in here.  I completely cleaned the area and refitted the seal.  Obviously this hasn't worked.

Given that it is quite a large fibre glass door I'm not sure what else I can do?  The rubber seal looks fine so I assume the door could be warped?  If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it!

Thanks guys,

Gareth

Is it much of a problem ?

I thought the front lockers were classed as 'Wet Lockers' and therefore not designed to keep out all the water.

As Jeff said above I would replace the seal anyway. It shouldn't cost much to replace.

Thanks for the replies,

The floor of the locker has holes in that could be drainage holes? My problem is I have a small wet patch that keeps appearing inside the van at the front bottom corner and the ideal culprit would be the locker given that I have sealed every other possible area of the van.  I'll keep looking - It's like a puzzle but not as much fun lol!

Holes are for drainage from leaking gas bottles.

Hi 'soggy elddis'
I had the same problem with my old Elddis, I had to fix it because the water was draining sideways into the wood under the ally trim.   I tried all the usual stuff but no joy.   In then end I put 5 mill spacers under the front hinge fingers.   This forced the lid back onto the front pnl.
Also worth a try if you have a piano hinge lid.

Hi Soggy

shut and lock the door on a piece of paper or a pound note.If you can pull it out without feeling any resistance the seal is not air tight therefore will leak and needs replacing .This also apples to refrigerators.

Though last year I had a leak in the boot of our small hatchback car.I took the seal off

put roof and gutter silastic around the seal retainer and turned the seal so that that partof the seal which went along the bottom of the boot lid was at the top of it.Voila seal fixed.

Cheers
