possible the read switch is faulty due to corrosion.has been know for the two wires of the pump to corrode and short where joined to main harness due to being in water.

Puzzled Michael, would the pump just run if the wiring shorted out as surely the fuse would blow wouldn't it as pump only has 12v +/- to it?
Reed switch is for magnetic operation of the float in the waste tank to activate the 'full' lamp.

yes meant push switch sorry,with only two wires on the pump if the fuse does not blow the motor could run until burning out.

Makes sense now Michael, I was just concerned Op might have found reed switch on drawing (which isn't relevant to this fault) and got further confused.
