Just about to head to the caravan to sterilise the water system ready for Easter.
I've bought a new Crystal II water filter, but the instructions I've read said to remove the filter.
Will water still go in with no filter cartridge in place? Or can I take the cartridge apart, remove the filtering stuff, put it back together and have an empty cartridge in place?!?
Help! Don't want to force brand new filter and break it, or is there something else I ought to be doing?
Ta

You need the filter i place but it comes apart at the end with the rubber seal,if i can remember you just twist it.You dont need the inside which is a bag a charcoal for it to work it.

Since we don't drink any water from the caravan, and had two filters crack by freezing. We decided to do away with it altogether, replacing it with a length of suitable diameter plastic pipe.

If you put in the new filter and then sterilise the system you will kill the charcoal. What i do is,take out the charcoal from the old one,fit back into the van then flush out the system, then fit a new one.To be honest their a waste of money and your better just to take out the charcoal and keep using it .

Be careful not to break the housing as it brakes very easily. If you go for the ultra flow conversion, you get a cartridge filter which can be removed and the cap fitted without the filter. The filter is only supposed to be used for a month so can be hellishly expensive if replaced as intended.

All sorted. Turns out I'd left the old one loose in the inlet, so took that apart, removed innards and sterilising fluid currently sitting overnight.
Thanks for all the replies.
