Sorry to post about the much hated Alko wheel carrier.... but I've bought one 2nd hand and fitted it to my 'van to help lower my nose weight a bit.
Anyway, I can't work out from Alkos instructions quite how the wheel bolts to the carrier?
I see there's a cone shaped thing that I assume centres the rim through its hold in the centre, but then there seems to be a bolt with a load of nuts on it?
What's this for? Do I take the nuts off and slip the wheel over this and then bolt back on?
Make sense?
thanks,
David

I have read a few things about the carrier damaging tyres, and wondered if a couple of strips of old carpet might help? Can't do any harm I guess as I'm heading to the van now to fit the tyre to the carrier (and grease it all too)

I have just removed mine as the carrier had left 4 grooves on a brand new tyre and rendered it useless.
Andy.
same problem here,,,
moved mine back into the original space in the front locker for the same reason. Only trouble is I can tell the difference in the weight distribution now. I'm going to move the spare wheel again to undr the front end of the fixed bed which will mean that it is in the same location as it would be if mounted in a carrier only it will be inside...
