we have just bought a 1991 swift challenger 450/5 SE and a couple of issues have come to light.

1) awning rail and damp

we seem to have some damp intermittently along the awning rail, which as a quick fix I have loosened and injected Sikaflex under along the external length. I dont really want to have to strip the internals to replace the battern (been there and done that one before!) and was just wondering is there a half way house fix that I could do along the lines of a floor delamination type fix where I drill and inject either a resin or wood hardener into the timber battern from either inside or outside, let it cure then re-fix with new mastic seal the awning rail? I know the right answer is strip and rebuild but I really dont have the will power or time for that and as it is circa 23 years old a good fix that will last 4-5 years is preferred.

2) whale cold water tap in toilet does not work

The tap set is hot and cold tap set with an extendable spout that doubles as shower head. the hot water works, as does hot and cold water in kitchen. Main queries are a) how do I access the tap as it appears to me that the entire vanity unit has to come out (or am i missing something) and b) is it a micro switch system or pressurised system on this type of van/tap combo.
