Ok I got stuck into it this afternoon, I removed the lockers and seating and ripped off the inner plywood, the window frame is just dust, and most of the timbers in the area of the leak are rotten. I'm looking at an area about 6 feet square, the good news is the wood beyond this area appears clean and dry. If the weekend holds dry, i'm going to remove the awning rails on the outside and replace the rotten timbers. All I need now is no rain in Cork this weekend, keep your fingers crossed.
Hi Kieran , good luck with your damp repair m8 , be careful when you remove the awning rails , make sure you have removed all the screws holding it , no matter how rusty they look , they won't just pull out with the rail , you've either got to unscrew them or remove the heads some how , if you pull an awning rail while you still have a screw in you'll bend it . And take it from me i know , i've done it , and there really not that easy to straighten out once bent .
