Hi there, I've recently purchased a 1991 Trophy caravan and it's had some issues. My latest problem is that when the toilet is flushed the electrics go out. They turn back on ok by turning the 12v/on switch off and on again. There is no leisure battery in situ and teh chap that did the 'habitation' test on it yesterday stated that the RCB unit didn't work (he said the 'test' button didn't work?). The habitation guy changed the fuse under the toilet cassette and the ones on the board above the sink - none of this helped. Unfortunately he couldn't stay longer to investigate.
The toilet does actually flush ok, it just causes the lights to go off!
Can anyone help?
Changing fuses is not going to help and suggests that your 'chap' doesn't really know what he's doing.
The toilet flush pump may be overloading the charger/power supply either due to a high start-up current demand or a fault. If the charger shuts down to protect itself, resetting it would restore the supply.
Are you intending to fit a battery? If so this may address the issue although it would be good to have a good auto-electrician check everything out.

A good post i could not of worded it better
Sounds like the toilet pump is stuck, normally it should blow the fuse.it will mean taking it out and trying to turn it with a tiny screwdriver.try filling with a strong solution of Milton and water, leave it over night and try again.just possible it could free it off.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
