THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM ANOTHER WEB SITE CARAVAN FORUM BY A CHAP WHO HAS A LUNAR ULTIMA (SPECIAL EDITION) DATED APRIL 2011. I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY REPLY FROM LUNAR. IT READS.......
An update as promised. I contacted Lunar who tell me a change of supplier/manufacturer of wheels/tyres part way through 2009 should have been reflected in details being added to the handbook advising pressures of 73psi or 65psi depending upon tyre brand fitted. I seem to have a handbook which was issued when only one tyre type was being fitted - not the KargoMax that I have. They insist that the correct inflation pressure for my KargoMax tyres is 65psi!

The Ultima range is based on several Lunar models and is exclusive to Robinsons Caravans, the heaviest single axle model being circa 1160kg unladened.
So adding a 200kg! payload is only going to get it up to toward the 1400kg mark and still well short of the 1700kg the tyres can carry at 65psi.
There the facts as I see them, so how they arrive at 65psi is beyond me
(BTW I'm sure 73psi is a typo and should read 63psi? )

I noticed you helped the above guy way back in 2011 who was asking the same question. So this problem of confused owners goes on. Glad you're around to give us some good advice. Been told that Lunar will answer in 48 WORKING HOURS. I hope they mean two working days otherwise we'll be on our way.

Lunar were pretty quick answering my email this Monday by 2.30pm. She says the following in her email , which doesn't agree with either my service department's email and some knowlegable contributors on this forum.
The recommended tyre pressures for the 2012 Clubman SB are 65psi.
The minimum inflation pressure allowable for this model is 55psi.
Tyre pressure calculations take into account not only the axle load carrying capacity and the axle load of the vehicle also the tyre construction, operating conditions, maximum speed, the position of the tyre on the vehicle, service conditions and also characteristics of the vehicle.
The recommend tyre pressures in our service handbook should be adhered too but can be adjusted for comfort if required. We would not recommend a pressure lower than 55 psi, if the stability of the van is affected or the tyres start to exhibit unusual wear characteristics then the pressure should be reverted to the recommended 65psi.

just checked my tyres the 8 ply so will go along with 46 psi .,as i said many thanks its a quarter more air per tyre than i was advised previously ,hopefully it will lower fuel consumption to

As long as tyre pressures are above those recommended there is unlikely to be a problem if both sides are the same.
The only result of above is that ride will be harder. As there is nobody riding in 'van, this is not a problem.

The problem arises when tyre pressures are low. Tyre overheats and finally fails in what people commonly misinterpret as a 'blowout'.

John, I totally disagree with your reasoning of 'no one' being in it, even Lunar mention 'adjusting for comfort'? lol
And the so called comfort pressure is actually the only thing worthy of a mention, so there I'm going to leave it!
