Hi I'm new here.I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice on the damp problem I have . Found it in the rear offside corner in the shower room . seems to be 2 feet square as I have just pulled back the wall paper to find this very soggy fiber board. A quick check out side , showed no obvious entry points but at the bottom side rail to the corner where the back angles down, I found a rusty securing rail end cap screw and the sealant looks very poor underneath it. Also the wall panel will flex and push in 0.25mm at this point which is the same place as the damp. Could this be pushing against a rotting frame timber ?
I guess the plastic strip within the rail covers up all the other securing screws for that rail ?

So its 1987 so it worth repairing as I am trying to sell it on now ( i don't want to but need to ) .

How do I set about making this repair ? I guess I would need some more fiber board ?

I would be grateful of any help , advice or useful links

Have a look here http://www.bailey94.co.uk/damp_in_a_locker1.htm and here http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/favorites.htm .
The fibre board is actually plywood sheet , it can be bought as caravan wallboard with the wall finish already applied see here http://www.1carpc.co.uk/wcdr/repair-items.htm click on the links .

Hiya, I bought a Sunstar last year & it sounds exactly what I have just repaired,it is quite cheap to repair & a good way of getting to know your van, but dont get carried away because you will find bits of damp everywhere like I did & get very frustrated,I have just replaced the whole rear of my van with new wood etc something I didnt really need to do as a patchup would of done, but Im thinking of when I sell it on I could'nt sell it knowing there was damp & rotten timber.Anyway only replace what you feel you have to as I say you keep going & find more, when removing the wallpaper just scrub the wall down & put a heater in there to dry some of it out, then when you replace your board be careful not to remove any of the poly lagging, then you can replace the plywood, 3.6mm available from b&q is quite adequate & repaper it with contour paper. It is good fun as well as a pain but I did enjoy repairing my van, also have a look at the awning rails they made need resealing..

Sorry for the delay, yes I did, what i did was cut out the badley soden ones & replaced the others dried out enough to do their job,as you said about the shower if you redecorating I used lino flooring on the walls, tiles or roll it does look quite good, when you have had your first getaway & you come home to park up on the odd weekend just check your rails, roof hatch, windows etc have a good look round & you can tinker at will, it's become a hobby now lol I was thinking of buying another & revamping from scratch.
