Thanks all, it's on. Hot water & hair drier did the trick. I then used sikaflex black sealant to fill the gaps. I had to use new rubber, the old one had gone hard & perished a little. Now to refit the inside with new wallboard. I might be back on soon to ask for more advise, but so far my £1200 quote for the repair has cost £110, and I've got all of the materials ready.
