We have a Bailey Pageant Provence S7 2009 and we've noticed that when we run the cold water in either the kitchen or shower room, it seems to mix with hot water and then run cold and then run hot again before eventually just running cold.  Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and/or how to rectify it please?

We've had a look at the water system tonight and the only ideas we have are that (a) the cold water and hot water pipes are tied together with cable ties at intervals which may be causing the heat to transfer from the hot water pipe to the cold where it touches or (b) the hot water is being forced out of the hot water tank into the cold water flow for some reason.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

because the supply is provided by two different pipes i think your first guess is the one i would go with being the two pipes are tied together and transfering heat.i have read of this before in a magazine and the complaint to bailey went on deaf ears i think.

The first thing is to separate these pipes as this is the most common problem and has been raised before as Michael has stated.

It could, possibly, be caused by a faulty non-return valve between the water inlet & the water heater, so when you turn the tap on, a small amount of hot water flows back towards the aquaroll & then up through the cold taps, before things settle & cold water runs through rather than warm.

This has happened to others I know, so may be worth investigating.

Thanks very much for your helpful replies - we'll have to do a bit of investigating to try and resolve it.

I agree, must be more than just the pipes being tied together if water is "Hot" out of cold tap.

if the non return valve has failed on the cold inlet supply to the water heater,it does happen.then the outside pipe of the water pump will be getting warm.do not think there will be enough escaping back into the barrel this way to make the water hot at the tap because it is leaking into 40 ltrs of cold water or less.only my opinion mind.unless the non return valve is missing all together.

Thanks folks. My gut feeling is that it is the pipes being tied together at several points along the way to the taps.  When I said the water goes hot when we run the cold tap, it's not as hot as when we run the hot tap alone.  I think our first step next time we take the van out is to separate the pipes, then try the cold water, if it's still running warm/hot then we'll need to investigate the valve issue.
