I have a problem with my taps.

When the tap at the sink is turned on water runs from the shower head in the washroom.

I have fitted a new tap and shower head but this has not cured the problem.

Can you advise a possible cure?

The taps are Comet.

When you mention tap on the sink, is this in the kitchen area or a tap in the washroom?
Is there a seperate tap/control for the shower?

PS: welcome to UKCS

sounds like they are connected in some way by pipes or it could not happen.what is happening i think is the TAP is starting the pump running and this is also feeding water to the shower head.unless it is designed this way.does the shower have a TAP of its own for when you want a shower without using the tap.OR is this TAP required to turn on the shower and you can turn OFF  the shower head.some shower heads can be shut off and you have the wrong shower head fitted.

Hi,

To clarify the problem - the tap turned on is the kitchen tap.

The washroom tap doubles as the shower. The head is the faucet which when lifted off the mount can be then mounted on the high bracket as the shower.

It has a hose which allows the head to reach the higher mount.

Bathroom has separate taps. If you turn on kitchen tap pump starts running so water pressurized in whole system. Its the valve in tap that then says if water comes out or not.

2 options I can think of bathroom tap open but not connected to pump circuit so when kitchen operated it comes out there too. Or bathroom tap isn't up to job.. Was it a brand new tap unit you fitted?.

also did you just change one tap? Pump running will pressurize hot as well so could be leaky valve is in other tap.

hope this helps. If you just changed one tap then try fitting one you took out in place of one you didn't change in bathroom and see if that sorts it ;)
