Our van has damage to the side it is right through maybe a metre long just one long line and ideas were to get fixed.

I would have thought a car body shop would be cheaper than a caravan workshop and better equipped, assuming their facilities are big enough to accommodate your caravan which might be an issue for some body shops.

Insurance is what I was thinking. Sounds costly this one.

 Let us know how you get on. Would be interested to know how they go about repairing a scrap that has gone all the way through.
