My internal 12v electrics have stopped working unless hooked up to the mains. Battery checks out as fully charged by my CTEK CTE-MXS5.0 battery charger, and a separate voltmeter shows 12.7v. The battery will also provide power to enable the motor mover to engage drive on to the tyres.

Any ideas where I should look next? The caravan is a Trigano Silver in case that makes any difference.

have you checked the fuses in the control panel?

The circuit breakers seem to be working fine, and the 12 volt lighting does come on when the caravan is connected to a hookup.

Check you battery charger fuse. All power from the battery or EHU goes through this and if the fuse is blown it wont work.

Also, check your battery amps and battery connections - we had the same as you recently where the dealer hadn't connected the battery properly so there was no charge in it and it took a while for the power to come back. We couldn't run on gas either as it requires the 12V circuit to power the ignition.

Look behind the battery box inside the caravan. In the + cable (not the one for the motor mover) there will be an inline fuse, probably 25A

Rich and Andy post most likely causes.If you have a test meter put it on battery terminals, not the connection lugs, before connecting to EHU and then check again when connected.If volts go up you have a circuit.

I think I need to go looking for a possible fuse as suggested by Andy.

420freindly, every reference I have seen suggests that 12.7 volts is indicative of 100% charge for a nominal 12 volt lead-acid battery.

On my caravan there is an orange 12 volt rocker switch that illuminates when active. If this is not switched on I think it will only operate on 240 volts which is the problem you are having yourself. I only found out the switch was there when I was vacuuming under the worktop behind the gas fire where my MCB units are located so have a look somewhere by the MCB 240 volt electrical trip switches for a rocker switch which should say 12 volts and switch that over to see if illuminates and then try the 12 volt equipment that is currently not working.

I've just posted an answer to this problem elsewhere on the forums. In case you have sorted it yet, I'll post the same information here.

I have just sorted the same problem on my van. The power supply was working fine, everything 12 volt worked with mains connected, but the battery wasn't charging, and the 12 volt lights wouldn't work if the mains was not connected.

After spending several frustrating hours with a multimeter, I worked out that everything on the power supply side was working fine, including the output circuit for battery charging. That only left one thing - the cable that runs from the power supply to the battery. I put the caravan up on ramps and climbed underneath. I found the cable that goes to the battery and there was a connector in it. I pulled the connector apart and found the metal blades inside had corroded away. I bought and fitted a new connector, and filled it with silicon sealer so it is completely sealed against moisture ingress. Problem solved.
