Hi All, I have an electrolux RM2262 fridge in my van and it worked perfectly when last used however when I came to use it last week it the fridge or freezer weren't getting cold no matter if I used electric or gas.

I saw someone say about removing it and putting it on it's side as this helps in some way. I did this and turned it over a couple of times during the day. I put it back in last night and the freezer is getting nice and cold but the fridge is barely doing anything. If I touch the fins inside the fridge they are slightly cold but that's it.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to anything else I could try? I wondered if it might be the thermostat but there are about £60.

It could be but,i would have turned it upside down instead of on its side and left undisturbed for a full day.

just looked up that model, its the same as my old one (same as the new one on the cooling side).

if the freezer is working properly, the fridge HAS to be, as it works passively from the freezer the fins are basically a heat sink connected to the freezer, the actual cooling tubes only go through the freezer section.

what number do you have it on, too high and it can cause it not to work properly.

I've tried it on both 8 and 3 and didn't seem to make any difference. Does bothe freezer and fridge work off thermostat or just the fridge? Is it worth taking it out and turning it upside down?

If there's nothing in the fridge then there's nothing but air to cool down and that's terribly ineffective.

Stick a 2L bottle of water in there over night and see how cool it is in the morning. As has been said, if the freezer is cold and beginning to ice then the fridge is working.

I've retried it and this time put a bottle of water in it as well. The fridge cooled however have it set to 3 or 8 makes no difference to the temperature. Could this be a thermostat problem?

Does the thermostat go into the top of the fridge as there's some sticky silver foil stuff on the top with something underneath it.
