Our Thetford n80 piezo fridge doesn't work on gas. Apart from the handover on buying the 'van we haven't had it on gas for 6 years. After reading on several forums I have checked the obvious. Piezo is sparking, burner looks clean and not blocked. No loose connections. Ensured temp switch fully depressed when sparking. Jiggled the source selection switch in case it was sticking. All to no avail.

It seems no gas is getting thru to the fridge. We have a set of gas isolation valves under the sink with the gas from the bottle coming in at the bottom. The valve below the fridge isolator works (the heater) and so does the one above (cooker). So it would seem either the isolation valve is stuck in the closed position or there is a problem with the gas piping between it and the fridge. Since we are going to have to get a Gas UK guy in to check we disconnected the gas pipe at the back of the fridge and sure enough there is no gas coming thru.

Has anybody experienced a gas valve seizing? Seems improbable to me.

You say there is no gas pressure at the gas inlet pipe?. If this is the case, my next logical step would be to disconnect the pipe from the exit side of the isolation valve (carefully) and see if you have pressure there?. If so and all other appliances have pressure then it looks like 100% faulty gas isolation valve, which is a rarity, but never rule out the implausible. If you are in any doubt leave it to a gas safe engineer.Good luck.

We just got it fixed using a gas-safe engineer for peace of mind.

Turns out it is one of the isolation valves below the fridge isolation. Not sure why the stove still works as that's ABOVE the fridge isolation but with all of them switched to on it lights - 2 below it off it fails to light (but stove still lights!). Must be crap in one of those first 2 valves but the wife is happy now and my beers are cold.

We used this guy in the Manchester area straightforward and very fair price.
