I bought a PUP!!!! I have just stripped out the rotten wood and wet poly foam in the corner of my caravan.
I have new batten and foam to go in place.
I also have aluminium panels to go across the back
My question are:
What Glues or Mastics should I use?
Would a coating of Bitumen glue on the inside be good or bad?
Have you had a look at Wizards site? Look at the fix-it-club and Alan Parker's site is incredibly helpful. Everyone seems to love a drop of Sikaflex 512 on here to use as a sealant and adhesive. Not started ours yet, as waiting until the end of the season, as ours is perfectly use able.
I'm sure you'll also get some experienced replies too. Look at some of the info I got on my thread about damp repair. Al+mel, Dan and Rob have been great!
Frannyvan is right about the Sikaflex. Other products are Tiger Seal, Soudal Fixall and water resistant PVA glue, although it takes a long time to dry. Anything solvent free will glue the foam to the ally. Use Sikaflex rather than bitumen, as it won't creep and is completely waterproof. (I wouldn't want bitumen anywhere near the 'van!).
