We have a truma water heater and mixer taps in kitchen and washroom. When running cold water we are getting a mix of hot and cold water - does anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?
Thanks
Does this occur in both kitchen and bathroom?
Has this always been the case or more recent?
Does the water go colder after running for a short while, or always mixed?
I think I know what Paul is thinking - Has this only just occured in this hot weather ? It could be the pipes near the side of the van are getting warmed by the sun. Or the aqua-roll water is getting very warm in the sun.
Good thinking but unfortunately not the case - it happened the last few times we've used the van but it when you run the water it goes from cold to scalding hot snd back to cold etc whilst it is running on the cold.
It is both kitchen and bathroom taps doing this and its cold here today so def not the sun (as we haven't got any in Norfolk today! ).
That was one thought Avon Eagle, but some folk have also experienced similar issues because their hot pipes have been tie-wrapped to the cold and caused heat transfer.
What water heater do you have Redflame? Now you've confirmed how bad this problem is, it sounds like a non-return valve has failed in the heater inlet, causing the heated tank water to flow back into the cold circuit.
I had this same problem under warranty. The solution was to fit a non return valve, I believe in the cold water feed line to the water heater, and a further drain off valve for the water heater. When I reported this fault to the dealer, they knew immediately what the problem was.
