I have a problem with the water system in my Avondale Firefly. The taps in the bathroom for the shower and wash basin have stopped working. The tap in the kitchen works ok. When you run the kitchen tap and then try the wash basin tap or shower tap they work. Is this the micro switches in the whale taps faulty? They appear to have green verdigris on them due to their age, if this helps.

A wash basin and a shower and you call it a bathroom. Okay I give up...where's the bath?

Joking aside I would say it was definitely defective micro-switches.

Tango,

Ok I was being polite, unusual for a prop forward but there is always a first for everything. Looks like a trip to caravan supply shop then with only 9 days before we go away.

I have never had a caravan with micro switches as ours have always been a single pressure switch but having read articles in the past on this forum makes me believe it is the micro switches that are causing your problem. Maybe someone can help further as there is a way of testing them that seems a bit complex to me but probably easy once you know how.

It will be micro-switches and I would advise you to simply replace the lot; they are a failure waiting to happen.
Having said that, some switches can't be accessed as they're built into the tap body, so you'll have to explore and fix accordingly.

The switches are problematic unfortunately, but the tell-tale in your example is that the other taps operate when the one good one is turned/switched on. The switch is running the pump already, so when you open an otherwise 'faulty' tap, water will flow as the pump is already operational.

Check there is power in the wiring to the taps. There may be a loose block connector which feeds power to the two sets of taps.
