Hi, first post. I'm an American living in the Netherlands and posted here because of the language.

My remote just started acting up. The red light which indicates that the unit is active (usually after a double click) is now on all the time. I thought that perhaps moisture had gotten into the remote so I opened it up and first removed one of the 4 AAA batteries to force the unit to stop drawing current.

I used a hair dryer on it and that seemed to cure this issue but only for a while. I tried this approach several times and each time it worked ... for a while.

We're on vacation at the moment and there's really not much I can do other than remove one of the batteries. I should also add that there are two intensities that red light now has ... the typical bright red light when the mover is activated and a dimmer red light when the unit is 'off' but still drawing current.

When I get home I'll spray some contact spray inside and also let the unit sit in a slightly warmed oven to further remove moisture if in fact that is the cause of this issue.

So, am I alone with this issue, has anyone here also posted something along these lines?

Thanks in advance, DH

Hi Dave.

Not much help I'm afraid, but in the absence of any other replies, you could try contacting A & R Electronics for advice; I believe they were the manufacturer for Carver.

Sounds like water ingress to me. Have you tried opening the cover and drying it? It sounds like it dries when you heat it but the water vapour cannot escape, so as it cools it condenses back into water.

I want to thank every one for their comments. When we get back home I'll try a few things and if they don't work I'll contact the link provided to me in this thread.

Thanks again! All the best, DH
