Does it ever end???
We now have a leak from the kitchen tap.
It's a Whale mixer tap (beige) and will be 1998. I've unscrewed the tap and there is a hairline crack in bottom of the tap and also a hairline crack in the thread of the bit that is still attached to the work top when I've taken the tap off (apologies - no idea of terminology).
Is there a way I can fix it for the time being, as don't fancy paying £70 for the whole new fixing at the moment? My Dad has suggested a bit of PF??? Tape and I've also dribbled a bit of Captain trolley on both cracks. (spent the afternoon on a ladder dribbling the stuff over my awning rail and roof join).
Glad I managed to fix the heating myself with the reset button or I might be tempted to blow up our lemon!!!
we had a crack in a tap like you describe as a temporary fix we put a cable tie round the tap where the crack was really tight it held the crack together no more leak it was so good we never replaced the tap might be worth a go as a temporary fix

actually thanks to "Michael" on a previous thread, as looks like I can pick up the whole tap and mounting for £42.95 at leisureshopdirect.com
It will have to be a temp fix in the meantime, as won't have time and spare cash to do it before it's next outing on Sunday. However quite enjoy washing-up at the facilities, as gives me a bit of space for half an hour.
Why not try a soldering iron - mine has a tip for melting plastic and I have successfully repaired a few items including one ABS one. Not a tap though but worth a try!

Might work on the crack on the tap end, but not sure about the crack that is on the thread, as might not be able to put it back on.
Still woth a try ' after fusing it all together, you can then attack the result with a fine (junior) hacksaw blade to re-create the thread! G'wan, have a go!

Blimey think you might be over estimating my ability. I'm the researcher and then coerce my hubby into doing it - ha ha.
Mind you am getting quite good at all this caravanning lingo, as even ordered myself some new "tombstones" for the sliding door.....get me!
Can you not buy just the spout if that is all that is cracked?
Long spouts for the Whale taps in my 1994 'van are circa £15 delivered from leisuredirect and ebay.
Failing that, our Elddis has/had a cracked spout and I only noticed the day we were due to go away! So i used aan epoxy putty - Milliput - to fill over the crack. It has worked and set perfectly. No more leak from the crack. Plus Milliput comes in various colours......
Problem is Dan, it's the spout and also the thread on the bit that is attached to the work top, when you take off the spout, so both bits; hence needing the whole tap replacing.
Thanks for tip, I'll have a look. Will replace it eventually, just trying to keep costs down for now, as been an expensive couple of months.
