hi everyone im looking to replace the wheel bearings and brake shoes on my Conway which i have just bought, its been lying up for a few years and i rather change even if they look ok as a precaution, as we intend to use it regularly next season and we have a trip to France planned, the tyres have rotted so will need replacing as well is there anywere that would carry Conway cardinal spares off the shelf or is it a case of taking out a bearing and brake shoes and try match them up or get the shoes relined.

cheers alan and thanks in advance

Hi Alan & welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't have thought you'd have too much trouble sourcing your items as they were a popular bit of kit. Have you tried the Trailer Tent Folding Camper section? Lots more folk on there who may know first hand. And of course there is also the Owners Club.

No probs Alan, like me a lot of tin-tenters came up thru the ranks of camping, trailer-tenting & folding campers so there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum as well but the guys who still use them now have a bit more recent info on aquiring spares etc.

Conway unfortunately went bust after a fire left asbestos dust from the roof contaminating what was left of their site and they couldn't carry on trading, Pennine Group bought what was left of the business. Good luck on your quest & enjoy your hols.

If you don't have any luck with T V S I believe that the chassis is alco if so give western Towing a ring they will probably have all the parts you need and will talk you through it on the phone.
Good luck

as far as i am aware all conway pre 2003 were there own chassis , johns right about contacting TVS but you are better ringing them as they are very poor at replying to emails , they bought up all the old conway facdtory spares ,so if they havent got it they might be able to point you to who has

just an update ,i got some spare time and i checked the wheel bearings and there is no play whats so ever, and i puled off the hubs and bearing look fine and the brake shoes are like new,ive replaced the tyres with proper 8ply commercial ones and greased the nipples and steadies so we are almost set for our maiden voyage but as the camper hasn't been used in a couple of years im afraid it may leak so ill try and soak it a few times before we go hopefully it will be ok ill bring some polythene as well just in case !!!!

Hi Polly and welcome to the forum again.

This is tagged onto a fairly old post, I would imagine that you would have a better response by placing it on the Folding Camper section.
