Hi, I bought our first caravan in July last year.  It is a Sterling Eccles Sapphire 2007.  We opened up this year after the winter (it is stored on site) and all was fine, no damp, nice and dry and it has been all Summer. 

I was talking to someone on the site last week and they suggested I should have the caravan re-sealed every 5 years or so.  Is this the case, and is it a good practice, or are you best leaving well alone until a problem is detected?

I am just thinking that if it is a good idea I had better think about having it done bearing in mind it's age.  I am not really prepared to tackle this myself, I have a young family and no time to do it properly so I would need to find someone to do it for me.

if you can afford to have it done by a dealer then its not wasted.for my money if its not leaking why do it.

I agree with Michael if its not leaking leave it alone.With all the improvements with sealers its not like say older vans.I would though have it checked for damp once a year or,buy a damp meter and test it yourself when you like.

Best bet is to buy a moisture detector and keep any eye several times per year on the moisture levels.

If levels are low then don't worry. If they are increasing a reseal might be needed.
