I would think the vinyl paper for that "Dress"look.Using paint may be cheaper but looks cheap like a painted outside loo..

We have painted an old oak kitchen in the past against all advice. With good preparation and using small roller you CAN achieve a fabulous finish and look. It just needs care ant time. Everyone loved the final effect. It lasted years too. Go ahead and have a go. You can use paint and paper too.
Also our first Musketeer (see outside view on my profile) was wallpapered with two types of paper, a "reed" type weave and something slightly stripey in matching shades. looked great for ages and never peeled.
Go for it !

I recently did some work on our van and although I fitted new wall board the wife still painted it just to add some colour. On my last 2 Camper conversions we painted the walls. All 3 were done with Vinyl Silk
