Hi, I am new to all this, sort of, been living in my little elddis knight for 6 months. My water pump became haunted over the weekend and now wont turn off unless I manually turn it off at the switch. I have read some other posts on the site and I am thinking it could be a pressure switch? I wont to eliminate this first but have no idea where it is or even what it looks like, let alone how to adjust it?! Can anyone help??
We had the pump running too last month but, like i said it was an air lock.If it happened as soon as you took the pump out to refill the barrel my money is on an air lock.
Run one tap at a time to see if it starts to splutter, also the shower if you have one.
There is a chance that the van doesn't use a pressure switch to control the water, but could use micro-switches fitted to the taps. If you have good hearing, you could hear a very slight 'click' as a tap is turned on and off which would suggest switched taps. One of these could be duff and stuck closed or shorted out, which could also give you a permanent pump run.
If you have a pressure switch though, you should be able to find something similar to one of the pictures above; either a pressure switch built into the back of the water inlet (as per Michael's photo), or an in-line version in the pipework near to the water heater, as per Chindley's image.
You really need to identify which type of water system control your van has before progressing further, as you might just be tearing your hair out looking for something you don't have.
