This is the Awning Light outside and above the door on our caravan.

I suspect water is getting in behind this light and I want to remove it to seal behind the light fitting, but I cannot figure out how it comes apart.

Does anyone know how I get into it?

Okay. Got the darned thing off today. A bit of a struggle as I guess it has been on there a very long time.

The 2 spiders were not too chuffed at being disturbed. They have now moved house.

I haven't done anything more to it as yet, but I will now take the back off the wall and clean it all before resealing it and putting it back.

Well I got the whole light off the van, scrubbed it, scraped out all the gunge, washed the lens and got it all nice and clean.

Then I decided to clean the contacts in the bulb holders and the bloomin' things were rusted in solid.

So after spending an hour cleaning it, I will have to buy a new one!

Then, to crown it all, I went to close the rooflight in the loo and the bloody top bit parted from the handle!

Well I am dammed if I am paying out 35 quid for a new one of these.
4 roofing bolts will repair that.

Fixed the Loo Rooflight today.

The Problem-

The plastic welding had come apart, as they do when they get older.
I had come across this problem before so I knew how to fix it and I was darned if I was going to pay out 35 quid for a new cover with handles.

The parts needed for fixing it. Four 1/2" Roofing Bolts.

Oh and a 6mm drill bit to drill through the old weld and through the handle cowling.

And all that was left to do was slacken the bolts and cover them with sealant bofore screwing them up tight again.

Later, when I have the time, I will take off the other rooflight and do the same with that. These rooflights take a lot of punishment from getting buffeted by the wind and it is crazy in my view how flimsy the plastic welding is. They should all be bolted on.
