Hi, I have just upgraded my caravan and want to give it a good polish/wax to protect it and keep it looking in good condition. What is the best products to use? is there any technique people find is the best especially keeping the plastic front/back nice and clean and shining.

I use Silky to get it clean and remove any grime.

Then some Showroom Shine every now and then to keep it clean.

A good quality shampoo to clean and spot treat with Silky any bad patches. Then polish with either showroom shine or Autoglym Resin Polish and then Autoglym Super Gloss protection.

It think the Autoglym products give a better and longer lasting finish but take a lot longer to apply than Showroom Shine.

With the above a quick swill down with something like Autoglym Shampoo will remove most of the grime with little effort for a few months. It certainly makes it easier in the winter with the crud that comes up off the road and you don't want on the caravan.

Here are my two pennies worth:-
Don't use any thing that is waterless, you will end up with micro scratches all over your van.
Don't use a sealant (as adised above0, although excellent for cars is not suitable for caravans and motorhomes.
Don't waste your money on special caravan detergents they are no better than the car stuff
Do use plenty of water when washing
Do use a good quality wax to finish off.

hope this helps


Any reasons for above statement re sealants? I can't get my little head around what difference it would make between car and caravan.
