Can someone advice me on the volt or watt of a radiator to use in caravan I have been using one that I use at home but it is 900/1100w I am told this is to high I am looking around to buy one for next year can anyone advice?we have blow heating but I am told that this can run down the battery? Thank you
If you are an electric hookup this will automatically charge up you on board leisure battery, so you can use the fan on the heating system without worrying about discharging your battery. On sites where there is no 240v...we just use the gas heating without the fan and keep the bathroom door open to try and keep it warm. The heater/fire usually has a higher heat output on gas than electric
Further to last we have used an oil filled radiator in the past on 1100w and it was ok. Just don't put electric kettles or hair drier on at the same time or you may trip the circuit breaker on the EHU which is ok if the circuit breaker is on the pole near your van but if it's locked away in a shed it's embarrassing having to ask the site owner each day reset it...oops
Yea thanks that is what we do we turn off radiator if we use any other appliance. But was talking to someone that said you can get a radiator for van use are they any good?
I would not bother buying anything special, the heater you have sounds fine.
We use a cheap fan heater for a quick warm up on arrival on site (as we have the Alde system which takes longer to warm up). It can use either 1000 watts or 2000 watts.
Even on a 6 amp EHU you can run a 1000 watt heater.
The rule to remember is "only one heating appliance at a time".
And don't worry about your battery, as said it will be being charged when you are on EHU, as long as you have the charger turned on.
We think the on-board charger is not working only got van last year so still finding our way round but loving it.We have two leisure batteries and one is on charge while the other is working. We are always on E.H.U and the battery lasts for quite a few weeks before red light comes on so we don't want to drain battery on heating if not necessary if E.H.U.fails then we do use blow heating Thanks
