Would like to get our caravan fully serviced (bought our first one late last year and need some piece of mind before the season starts) and wondered if anyone could offer up any personal recommendations in the Rainham, Essex area.
I've had a look at the approved workshop scheme and the MCE but its hard to choose based on a website alone. Costs range from £150 to £250 is this about right?
Any thoughts / recommendations would be much appreciated
Personally, avoid East Coast Leisure (Basildon)as they are stupidly expensive although they do a very good job.
B & B Caravan Services (Wickford) - good on work and price, however the woman who owns the company is a bit funny to deal with (but nice enough)
Crownlands in Ongar are mobile come recommended by people I've spoken to, however I have never used them - 01277 363166
Ultimately all will probably be booked solid now until April, so good luck finding one and if you use Crowlands any feed back would be good

I know what you mean about B&B caravans, have you used them? Just booked ours into Countryside Caravans where we brought it. They have quoted £166 + VAT and parts which I didn't think was too bad.

Once
The servicing is done by the owners father, and I had to leave the van with them for a week.
TBH I could have done the service myself, but I wanted to get the gas appliances done properly and they issued the water heater, cooker, and fire with their own certificates. They also cured a niggley electrical gremlin that I didn't tell them about, so I would have though from that they did a thorough job.
That was a couple of years ago now.
As we have a new van now, I will probably use an 'Approved Workshop' when it's due for it's first service in July
B & B she is a little strange but she don't half know her stuff. She is very helpful and knowledgeable and I always go to her first for bits and bobs. I too am looking for a mobile service in Essex so will look at some of the above suggestions
------------- Live life to the full you are a long time dead
We have explored all your suggestions, but have decided to try GB Leisure Solutions based in Kent.
We came to this desicion mainly because they are approved by both the NCC and MCEA and gave me peace of mind in terms of competence. I'm not for a minute suggesting anyone outside of these schemes is some sort of cowboy, but in lieu of personal recommendations it provides some form of safety net.
£222 inc parts and VAT, so when you consider countryside caravans are quoting £166 plus VAT, for an extra £20 we have the convenience of it being done on the drive.
Booked for mid Feb so will post our thoughts once done.
You might wait some time for a reply from 6moore as he has not posted anything since June 2014.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
