Hi

We have a Swift Challenger 1991 which has a leaking roof light in the bathroom which has caused the roof board to become damp and rotten as well as the rear corner of the caravan where the grab handle is. I have read up on this site and others and so feel happy that my husband and I can tackle the wall boards but a little unsure as to how to tackle the roof any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Roof construction is similar to the walls except it's likely loose insulation rather than bonded. The roof has a lot more framework for the ceiling board to fix to.

Tackle it in much the same way except you'll pin and glue the boards to the frame.

Thank you for your reply. Can I just ask one more question please, does the aluminium of the roof need supporting in order to removed the rotten timbers? We will be renewing at least the back 1/3 of the roof.

Thanks

It might need a bit of support as it's extremely thin. Especially if there is the weight of a skylight there.
