Hi All
Just bought 12v tv, plugged it in but it wont switch on (tv light on and it tries to switch on but then turns back to standby)
I am also using 12v stabaliser between socket and tv
Checked 12v socket and it was showing 13.50
Checked battery that showing same
Plugged van into house with the ehu
Tried again and tv works fine (atill in 12v socket)
Where am I going wrong, Help please
Thanks
Ok, Just done some more checks
Battery fully charged
Voltmeter on the 12v board in orange(not zig but similar looking)
I only have to put small light on and it goes into red on volt meter
So seems to be voltage drop but how can I remedy it
Do I first check all wires going to fuse box and make sure they all have good connection
If no joy with that can I wire one 12v socket direct to the load outlet of solar charge controller(with inline fuse)
Thanks
Yes. If the battery is on it's last legs then the voltage drop will be evident. If it doesn't drop more than 0.1-0.2v and then the drop must be on the wiring somewhere.
For reference a fully charged battery should be in excess of 12.6v. Below that and it's not fully charged. If you're only getting 12v then that suggests it's only circa 25% charged.
Hi
No load was 12.87
With 3 lights on 12.70
So i guess its somewhere in wiring
I use the quick clamps on battery posts, could this be part of problem?
Thanks
Ok , Just an update for all.
Cleaned all all 12v fuses and connections with contact cleaner and hey presto tv now working, never knew something as simple as that could cause so many problems,so not only is it fixed but I have learnt something too. Thanks to all who contributed
