Hi Bill,
I know the length of warranties, if you read the handbook it tells you what is excluded in years 2 & 3.

Rich, congratulations on your new van, that's the one we are looking at, very smart looking. were you aware of the 2nd & 3rd year warranty restrictions ?

See where you are coming from..
Warranty cover Scope

This applies to all new Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer products manufactured from 2012 model year onwards.

Three year manufacturer's warranty

Year 1 warranty - Covers all original components, including permanently fitted equipment forming part of the original product specification.

Year 2 and 3 warranty - Covers all original components, including permanently fitted equipment forming part of the original product specification, with the exception of the following items:

    Microwaves
    Tyres
    Batteries
    Windows and glass
    Deterioration of exterior paint work
Soft furnishings, carpets and floor coverings
    Entertainment equipment
Fluorescent tubes, bulbs, LEDs and fuses
    Plastic and GRP exterior panels
Plastic products including A-frame covers, wheel spats and shower trays
Minor adjustment of blinds, hinges, catches, stays and doors

Ten year body integrity warranty

Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer products are covered against water ingress damage for 10 years from the original date of purchase of a new product. This applies to water ingress through any permanently sealed seam joints.

In order to comply with the terms of the above cover the following conditions must be met:

Reporting a fault

In the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your caravan or motorhome please contact your retailer.

It is with the retailer that your contract of sale exists and consequently they have the responsibility to ensure any complaints and warranty issues are addressed. Any other approved Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer Retailer or Service Centre may carry out work at their convenience or discretion, but are not obliged to do so.

All Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer products are classed as portable and therefore all work under warranty requires the caravan or motorhome to be delivered and collected from the selling retailer.
Conditions attached to the warranty cover

You must retain the original sale invoice for the caravan or motorhome.
All new caravans and motorhomes must be registered with The Explorer Group Ltd within 6 weeks of purchase as new. Your retailer can forward this information to us. Please keep us informed of any name or address changes by using the Notification of Change to Name and Address form.
The caravan or motorhome must have an annual service and damp check carried out by an Approved Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer Retailer or Service Centre. Original VAT invoices and damp reports must be retained as proof that the annual services have been carried out in accordance with our warranty terms.

most warranties after 2 years are rubbish, we have lost money in the past by not asking the right questions. ask what the third year covers and get it written down and signed by them. if they want your money they will do it. you then have a large lever in a court of law or small claims dept for your third year. thinking more on water ingress ect.

The bodywork warranty of 10 years is not honoured by elddis and they go to great lengths to reject claims. This I know for a fact having had my Ellis xplore 504, purchased in 2014 develop cracks in the back panel on the top corners. It showed up at 2 years and was grudgingly accepted by their representative at elddis, a miss Charlie Windsor, and repaired at one of their approved repairers in Northwich to the elddis approved procedure only to be failing again 2 yrs later. It has been rejected by miss Windsor on the grounds that it is only covered for 3 yrs. Nowhere in my elddis booklet or paperwork is there any mention of this....
The 10 Yr warranty was the main reason for buying this caravan.
I also had a claim disputed for water ingress around the front window.... On the grounds of not having my service done at the correct time... This was disputed by me and all my service documents were photocopied and forwarded as proof.... It appears elddis had misread month 04 as being month 07.....for year 3 service.... And entered it into their computer record incorrectly.... They spoiled my holiday with the stress but conceded their error... But refused to replace the front grab handles which had deteriorated badly, the covering split.... On both handles...looking very unsightly.. . neither ever being used as I have a mover on my van.... .and suggested by the repairer when being assessed as it would be done with the damp front repair.. Free of charge.... I ended up paying £60 for the handles. I have also had a power supply replaced after 12 months....supplied by the dealership... No quibble.
All in all elddis have been appalling when dealing with warranty repairs.... Adopting a reject policy immediately.... Obviously hoping the problem will go away.... Guess what.... It won't as I intend pursuing this through the court if needed.

We have previously had two Elddis and both had panels crack before two years old. Everything is blamed except their product. Why did I not learn my lesson after the first one? After happening again with the second one we vowed never to touch their brand again and have stuck with either Bailey or Swift brands. Found both of these there has been no quibbles with any warranty work needed.

Hi birdman
We are among the many being caught out by elddis "warranty"... I too will not be purchasing another elddis.... Although my previous one was elddis.... but before their ridiculous Solid construction and all the associated bodywork problems.... This didn't have the silly plastic panels which are rubbish. They obviously tried to create a Bailey type product and have not got their material suppliers right.
No more elddis for me....

I would not have an Elddis if you paid me having bought one a couple of years ago and having to resort to a solicitor to get things done and eventually a full refund

Remember that they are now Hymer vans and most people believe that Hymer are the best vans you can buy.

They might believe Hymer are the best vans, but the bottom line is it's an Elddis, not a Hymer.

Maybe the Erwin Hymer Group will introduce new build practises and get the public back on board. But that would be a few years away.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!

That maybe the case but they are a little austere and don't seem quite as comfortable as English vans..... Yet..... And they probably don't intend getting into correcting the elddis issues any more than they need to. Perhaps some of the elddis interior styling will permeate into the hymer range.
Hymer are also qiite a bit heavier... Having nose weight of 100k across the range.... Whereas my elddis is 75k and my towbar is 75k rated.
