Hi
Last season we had a power surge. Since then our trauma fire has been stuck on. To turn it off we have to switch off the switch in the cupboard
Also it only is producing one heat so if we turn it on on the control button it doesn't matter if we have it on 500,1000 or 2000 the heat is just at the same just very low
Can anyone suggest anything?
Also if we have it on the hot air distribution it comes out really hot in the bathroom which is right next to the fire, but all other vents it comes out just about cold. This has always done this. Is this right? I can't understand the point of it if that is right?
Theres a vent flap behind the fire where the pipes connect. It sounds like it could be set to one side. Centralise it and it should spread the warm air equally.
As for the heater. Sounds like the control switch is stuck on a particular setting. Replace the control switch and job sorted.

The main control board behind the fire will be at fault, almost certainly the 500w relay is stuck on. So apart from this preventing the control switch switching it off, this will also prevent it working on higher settings.
As for the air distribution, due to the natural airflow coming off the fan, most of the air wants to exit from the right hand vent. If then this is the toilet vent, then trying to change the flow mostly to the left hand vent creates a lot of turbulence rather than improving the flow to other parts of the van.
Solution then is to change the longest ducting pipe to the right hand vent
