HI ALL I KNOW THAT MOST NEW CARAVANS COME WITH SHOCK ABSORBERS FITTED AS STANDARD I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY ONE HAS FITTED THESE TO THERE CARAVAN AS AN EXTRA AND HAVE YOU NOTICED ANYTHING DIFFERANT AFTER FITMENT THANKS REDHEADS.
I happened to acquire a set from my father-in-law, so I decided to fit shocks to my Bailey. They clearly did make some difference and there was noticeably less 'bounce' when the van was pulled with our (then) Renault. They improved the stability, but mainly from a comfort angle.
I have since read mixed views, but only in the sense that different folk experience varied results, but on the whole all results are generally positive.
If your tow is fairly stable at the moment, then don't expect a huge improvement.
hi thanks for the reply the main reason thinking of fitting shocks was to control the bounce hoping to control things a little better in side the caravan when towing seeing what has been said I have ordered a pair being delivered next week thanks again for your posts .
Have literally just this minute taken the plunge myself and ordered a pair of Red Octagon shock absorbers for our 2004 Coachman Pastiche 520/4.
Spent several hours over the weekend looking at prices from different outlets, but got them from the same as LawrenceR above, THECARAVANSHOP.CO.UK, £62.95 for the pair, prices vary so much, one place was £117 for the pair!
