Hi All,
I don't know if anyone can offer any advice but I'm desperate to help a friend out! They have a fantastic 1960's Knaus Caravan but unfortunately the skylight got left open while they were towing and has ripped off (its still under discussion who's fault it was ). Obviously being so old they're struggling to find a direct replacement so knowing how helpful and knowledgeable you all are (beg, beg, grovel, grovel) I wondered if you had any suggestions at all whether it be somewhere that might have old Knaus parts available or even somewhere that might be able to custom make something. Any advice at all would be extremely gratefully received not only to save a poor chappies ears from being bent but to keep a little family on the road and camping....otherwise a lovely classic old van in otherwise fantastic condition is going to have to go for scrap
Thank you so much
Emma x
Plastic skylights become brittle with age so its not really suprising this one failed, it would be fairly pointless fitting another of same age as it would be just as brittle. There is no reason a new skylight complete with frame cannot be fitted in its place. Google caravan skylight & go from there. Theres all sorts of sizes & makes. MPK have been fitted to caravans since the 80s & come in various sizes so they might be your best bet.
